Roll With It

The New Year often rolls in with celebrations, new expectations, new goals, new beginnings, and even keeping with old traditions. Ending what can be a very busy, stress filled and emotional time if we aren’t intentional, we can roll right into the New Year with extra baggage we don’t want or need.
Through the SOULWELL Journey we discover and begin to practice numerous methods and tools to keep us present. These resources keep us connected to the vine and in relationship with the ONE who made us. Clinging to the vine keeps makes the emotional load lighter and allows us to unpack and process.
As I reflect on the last year – there have most certainly been an ABUNDANCE of emotions, feelings, moods, all the things – and there have been an ABUNDANCE of blessings, lessons, hardships, consolations and moments of distress. With each adversity we can focus on the pain that comes with the difficulty, or we can welcome the pain, explore the experience and watch God’s movement through each moment. We can receive the blessing and the lesson without them being independent of one another.
See, HE wants us to receive the blessing, but HE knows we need the lesson just as much – if not more! The lesson is how we use what happens to transition from the pain to the peace, HIS peace. When we come alongside others experiencing similar circumstances and provide encouragement, the lesson is what we need to be the blessing to others. And it is the gift we receive because of HIS love and our obedience and faithfulness.
As 2023 rolls in let’s take a moment to consider our blessings and take in the lessons with a little more focus.
Where are those memories that are still seeped in pain?
Where is HE inviting you to process through the pain into the blessing and the lesson?
Where is HE calling you to acknowledge your blessings?
Where is HE providing you an opportunity to be a blessing?
Where is HE encouraging you to lean into the lessons?
New Year resolutions are meant to lead to new beginnings.
Where is HE inviting you to focus, prioritize, evaluate, or even to rest and be still?
